Theology is the kindling for revival.
— Jonathan Edwards

One of the core elements to Parallel Society is the Parallel Society Course. Within this course we walk through the theological, philosophical and missional implications of the individual and consequently, a community of artists with a directional vision of creativity. The Parallel Society course is an eight part video series with an accompanying workbook filled with creative exercises, prayer prompts and other material orbiting around the vision of discipling and commissioning the Christian artist. The goal of the Parallel Society Course is to equip artists with a deep Christocentric vision for their work as they use their work as a tool for evangelism and showcasing the beauty of Christ. This course is also the bedrock to everything we do.

The Parallel Course

  • Art was once used to point to transcendence. Now it points to ourselves. How did this happen?

  • The way we view God has massive implications on the way we see ourselves and our participation in redemptive history.

  • What are you pointing to with your art? Who is being put on display through the work of your hands?

  • Whether you are a painter, plumber, or a stay an at home parent, you are formed in the image of a creator.

  • The power of a creative community on mission to join God in the renewal of all things.

  • It’s not just beautiful work that points the human heart towards the divine, it’s a life lived in harmony with that beauty.

  • What can happen to the earth when we abide with Christ and use our artistry as a tool for evangelism?

  • What happens when artists rise to take their place in the kingdom of God. Beauty will save the world.
